Case Study: Creating Generative Art & Animations With Captured 3D Data
Research
Taught myself how to use the Processing open-source coding language, & the process to capture 3D data with the Kinect's infrared sensor.Lots of time, trial & error
Sketching and mapping out workflow from initial capture, to final output of visual data.Motion & Animation
Figured out how to manipulate the 3D data & import into other software.Project Details

Using a Kinect (v1) & Processing to output a 3D file sequence, importing that into After Effects & using Plexus 3.0 plugin - for an upcoming SXSW short film. Link to animation/video listed in the article.
I obtained the hardware on ebay - a used v1 Microsoft Kinect & various adapters - & with the help of research from Daniel Shiffman, & his open-source programming I was able to successfully capture, & output 3D from the Kinect to be used in other applications like Cinema 4D, After Effects, Plexus &Blender.
